Um, Gulp...

Yea, don't look now, but this might be something to worry about.

did you watch the game? i mean seriously - TCU lost that game, USAFA did not win it.

but it's good to see you're right there on the ledge with all the other guys

I can't have a little fun with my blog? Did I say anywhere about how we're in big trouble this year against the zoomies? I think if you read my previous posts you will find that if anything, I'm the guy who is trying to convince other people to come back from the ledge.

Good for Air Force ---> I hope that they are undefeated when they come out to Annapolis, ... so the taste will be that much sweeter when Navy beats them. Likewise I wish Army all the success in the world, ... until December 1st comes.

It doesnt matter!
Now thats what you can call a signature win.
How come AFA can beat the likes of TCU and we lose every game to an opponent other than MAC teams?
We have not beat a ranked team in how many years( was that South Carolina in the early 80`s)?
Ok- the come back of "would you trade records for the last 5 years" -of course not.

Now about the game this year vs AFA- You dont think Carney will have a field day against us?
We will be facing a ranked team the way its going too.

All right Adam, don't ban me from the blog but, AF's defense is night and day from last year. There DC's motto is we will sacrifice some big plays to make our own. Don't get me wrong, I am all about some Navy. But, I think the NAVY VS AF game will be one of the most physical games we see all year. Another thing, can we please calm down a little about Navy. We go through this every year. Navy has stumbled at the beginning for the last 3 or 4 years. PJ knows how to motivate the guys and alls I got to say is that the next time we Navy on ESPN it will be a much different team.

You are crazy about TCU gave it away. Air force's brillant call on 4th and inches to do an outside option!! Great coaching and TCU missed so many chances by not takling, throwing intercetpions in the redzone and missing field goals. Give the Academy some credit they were suppose to be terrible. Also TCU is not as good as people think they can not score quickly if needed AND they like to sit on leads like they did last night and cost them

Air Force scares me, I'll be honest, but I don't think beating TCU equates to necessarily beating Navy. Anonymous is right in the regard that TCU let this game slip away, although I do give credit to Air Force's offense for finding itself with only a few minutes to go. I know TCU has a lame offense, but Air Force's defense did some good things too.

I think this just adds more intrigue into this year's game, and from that perspective it's a good thing. We’ll have to see how the Falcons handle BYU next week before we make any definitive conclusions about whether or not the Falcons are “back” as some are already saying.

tcu wasn't ranked, gary.

and tcu DEFINITELY gave it away. that isn't even debatable.

tcu dropped out of rankings after losing to texas. The reason TCU gave it away, because they had a lead and didnt try to increase their lead.

Navy beat (actually they "destroyed") then #2 ranked South Carolina fairly late in the season in 1984 @ N-MC stadium. TCU wasn't ranked in the top 25 anymore after getting drilled by Texas the prior weekend.
Every year it seems one of the service academies gives a ranked team a serious scare ---> Last year a pitiful Army squad came within 2 yards of upsetting then #23 ranked Texas A&M
when the clock ran out, ... and let's not forget that Navy pretty much dominated a ranked BC squad in that Bowl Game before inexplicably giving the contest away in the waning seconds. Navy only beats MAC teams??? --> WTF Gary???
Don't go awarding Carney the Heisman trophy yet ---> Let's see how these next couple of contests go before writing off the entire season. I seem to recall a one win Navy team (in 2002) running up over 56 points on a fairly decent Army squad ---> In these service academy games, one can't rely on W-L records meaning squat.

To football Dad with all due respect on my saying we only beat MAC teams- let me lay out the wins other than against AFA and Army and the Bowls.

Duke
SMU
Northeastern
Tulsa
Vanderbilt
Delaware
VMI
Eastern Michigan
Rice
Tulane
Central Michigan
Kent State
Temple
UMass
East Carolina
Stanford
UConn
Rutgers

Ok maybe not an entire MAC conference but you dont see any TCU`s.
To date the most impressive was pounding UConn no matter how bad they were.
Yes-these are wins and yes i am still a Navy fan- but I also look at who we beat too and long for some strong wins against the best of teams and a Top 25 ranking- EVERY YEAR.
Hopefully we can get another against Pitt/Wake/ND this year.
It seems to me that in the last 10 or so years AFA is the team that always upends one of the better teams-they always seem to do well and at times beat ND (we can only respect and admire that one).

Gary,
I certainly applauded (as well as envied) those couple of wins that AF registered against the hated Irish, ... and have agonized at the number of close-calls that Navy has had vs Notre Dame. I've witnessed Navy upsets over the likes of Penn State, Washington, the 'Canes, BYU, UNC,UVA & that '84 USC team in the '70s & '80's ... but the problem with being an Independant is that it's tuff to get some of the respectable (and "beatable") Div 1A schools to schedule Navy now, ... because of conference obligations, ... and the fact they fear the triple option, ... and the realistic chance to lose to Navy.
Oh bye the way, ... Navy did upset a very good "hi-powered" Cal Bears team in the '96 Aloha Bowl.
