A Final Post

Well, the time has finally come. After spending the last couple of weeks mulling it over I’ve decided that this will be my last post here at Pitch Right. It was a difficult decision to make, but I just feel that after two years of covering Navy football this blog has served its purpose, and given way to numerous other medians of Navy football coverage. I feel as though I just no longer have the ability to post regular, meaningful content with regards to Navy football, and with the upcoming semester and a much needed college transfer looming, I need to be more selective with the efforts I choose to invest my time in.

I’m not going away completely though, and hopefully once I get some of my personnel junk in order I’ll be working on some various other college football projects. In the meantime I’ll be making my daily perusals around the various blogs and message boards out there, and occasionally chiming in. And of course I’ll be following the Midshipmen just as much as ever, and looking forward to what awaits in 2008.

Some thanks are in order, especially to those readers who took valuable time out of their days to check in, especially those who’ve commented on an almost daily basis (Gary, FDD, various “anonymous” commenters.) I’m also very much obliged to numerous members of the college football blogospshere, who took the time to collaborate on various projects and helped expose this blog to a larger readership. And of course to the Navy football program itself, especially to the players who’ve taken the time to talk to me, and the sports information department for not freaking out when I started this whole shizzam. My usual exaggerations aside, publishing this blog was about the coolest thing I’ve ever done, and I’m going to miss it. Thanks to all who made this such a great experience.

Whoah. Sorry to read you are taking time off, Adam. (I refuse to accept anyone ever fully stops, they just take breaks.)

I've enjoyed your writing and the passion you bring to covering the Midshipmen.

Good luck.

As the father of the blogger I have to tell the readership (and Adam) of how proud I have been of his writing - his knowledge of the sport, his humor and his respect for the program. He's had great experience here and especially getting picked up by AOL for a year. He's worked extraordinarily hard.

First PJ and now Adam. How much more of this can us Navy fans take? Thank you very kindly for all of your hard work and insight. Where do we go from here?

It has been a great time exchanging Navy football thoughts on this blog and being involved with someone who has that same passion and bleeds "Blue & Gold" too.
While I started out @ GoMids as my first blog experience it was here that I grew my "chops" and had the most fun.
It seemed like a small club when you compare the blogs of the "football factories" but it sure was passionate and humorous and always educational.
Good luck in all your future endeavors and I am sure we will see you on Bird Dogs and others starting in the spring.
Its takes alot of time and effort to do what you did and it was most appreciated by myself.
I will miss it.
It is also good to know that the BDog blog provides us with some security knowing we have him too.
Its just good to know that there are other passionate Navy football fans out there!

This the worst news I've heard. You are the most perceptive and knowlegeable football blogger on the air.

Additionally,and unfortunately,
the timing is very bad.The GoMid Board has developed an unfortunate personality. It has been for sometime dominated by a small group of knowlegeable dyed-in-the wool, but intolerant, well-meaning Navy football fans. They enjoy each other, which is fun to observe.

However, their party line, which sooner or later develops on issues,is as dogmatic as Jonesville. What could have have been open forum has been hi-jacked by a few.

Thanks for your open-minded skill in handling diferent points of view.

I'm not accepting your folding of the tent. I'm counting the days until you return.

Good luck, Adam -- with the transfer and in school. I've enjoyed your blog. Try it again sometime.
BTW, the tagline at the top of your blog is awesome. ("Because Army-Navy is better than . . .")
Looking forward to your return to the blogsphere.

Thanks you all for the kind words. I’m by no means disappearing, but like I said it’s just time for me to move on for awhile and focus on some other aspects of my life. I’m too much of a fan to stop following the game, and I’m looking forward to what should be a very exciting sping for Navy football.

While its sad to see Adam move on-The BirdDog as long as he can.... provides the best in Navy football and athletics discussion.
I cant wait for his spring football QB analysis too........
(That one was for Adam and FBD and BD-one last time).

Adam good job, I have enjoyed it. Words to live by: "If you can't beat 'em, read 'em and hope you can pitch off the other one and your blockers get in the way of the other 9". I actually made that up on the spot. Good luck in all you do and God Bless.

Adam,
Just in case you check your site Jeff Deliz is coming back for the 2008 football season. The Navy captain's surgery went well and his rehab is going great. The coaches, teammates, the Brigade and especially his parents are very happy.
Go Navy! Beat Army!
